Am I the only one alive who is aware of the fact, yesterday's bombing of Medina is the third such attack by Ibn Saud's Wahhabis since they rose to power in the 1700s?
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my reading of history is that the first razing of Medina happened in 1805, the next one by the second Saudi state's invasion of Hijaz in 1925 and now this gift from the orphans of Abdul Wahhab.
I'll welcome input from any scholar or student who has a different reading of history.
Earlier, in the year 683AD, the Ummayad Caliph in Damascus, Yazid bin Muawiya also invaded Medina and took his sword to demand allegiance to his rule from the sceptical citizens of the city.
Later that year Mecca was attacked and the Kaaba was destroyed because of Ummayad bombardment by stone throwing catapults.
Btw, the grave of the Prophet was also dug up and looted during the 12th century, but those were thieves.
